Backpacks & Binoculars in Brooklyn NY, Summer Camp Magic Show
I love summertime because I have a chance to perform my magic show at summer camps across NYC. In fact, I just had a blast performing for Backpacks and Binoculars Summer Camp, located at 110 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn NY!
Backpacks & Binoculars is an award-winning camp that’s housed in the historic Brooklyn Meeting House. When I arrived, the kids were raving about the experience they had wearing costumes and putting on a show.
As someone who was a Theater Major in College and went on to earn my Masters Degree in Educational Theater from NYU, I can’t even begin to describe how happy it made me to see the Backpacks and Binoculars campers so excited about the arts.
But I digress…
Joey DeMita, the camp director, arranged my show as the culmination of a really fun week of excursions across the city. After the show, I taught the kids a couple of easy-to-do magic tricks so that they could impress their friends and family at home.
My favorite moment from the show was when I taught one of the campers how to magically link and un-link a set of solid steel rings. The look of astonishment on her face was priceless!
