NYC Halloween Party for Kids: 7 ‘Spook-Tacular’ Activity Ideas
Haunted Forts: If you were like me as a kid, then you loved making forts! Have the kids create their own Halloween fort/haunted house.
Here are some ideas for supplies: cushions, cardboard boxes, tape, flash lights, sheets, string, bubble wrap. Ask them to give you a tour when they’re finished!
Mysterious Shadow Fun: Equip the kids with flashlights and see who can come up with spooky Halloween shadows: pumpkins, bats, and monsters, oh my!
Rib-Tickling Knee Slappers: Give each child a Halloween joke or two. Then take turns hamming it up! Click here for a free printable pdf with Halloween jokes for kids.
Mummy Relay: This Halloween activity is suited for groups of 4 or more. Provide each group with 1-2 rolls of toilet paper.
Each group chooses 1 person to be ‘the mummy.’ The first group to completely wrap your mummy (leaving holes for eyes, noise and mouth, of course) wins.
Halloween Freeze Dance: During this activity, the kids move or dance like a monster whenever the music is playing – and stop when the music stops.
Play some kid-friendly versions of Thriller, The Monster Mash and Time Warp to ensure your little goblins have fun, fun, fun!
Spooky Story Circle: Have the kids sit in a circle and work together to create 1 Halloween-themed story. Once they have a story, assign parts and have them act it out.
Build Your Own Monster: Think ‘make a scarecrow’ but modified for the indoors. Give them some old clothes and newspaper and see what kind of monster they create!
