Considering a Zoom birthday party for your child?
If you’re struggling with the idea of throwing a virtual party amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, you’re certainly not alone.
The good news is there are still some easy ways to make the party really fun and special.
Hi, I’m Evan, or ‘Magic Evan,’ a professional magician based in New York. I’ve helped parents in Amsterdam, Hawaii, Canada, California, New York – and all around the world – throw amazing Zoom birthday parties.
In this article, I share some ideas so that you can throw the fun, special and amazing birthday party your child deserves!
ZmURL is a new, free service that allows you to customize beautiful invites to your Zoom party.
In 3 simple steps, you can create a beautiful site for your child’s party with a customized image, description, and RSVP details.
Lead an art project on Zoom, or ask guests to make a picture to bring to the party.
Guests might create pictures of shared memories, a quality they love about your child, and/or something they look forward to doing together in the future.
Share the art work on Zoom all at once, or take turns sharing and watch your child’s face light up with joy.
Add connection, love and joy to the party with a sing-along.
End the zoom birthday party by singing “Happy Birthday,” and surprise your child by bringing out a cake with candles to blow out!
Simon Says, Bingo, Dance Battle, and Stand Up, Sit Down are just a few of the interactive games that can create an engaging, fun, and festive party atmosphere!
Here’s how to play Stand Up, Sit Down:
Before the party, make a list of fun facts about your child (Example: “{Your child’s name} loves chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.”)
During the party, explain that you’re going to read the fun facts out loud.
If the statement is true for them (they, too, like cookie dough ice cream), then they should stand up.
If it is not true for them, then they should remain seated.
Start reading statements and soak up the laughter, giggles and smiles that ensue!
I LOVE this idea from Oh Happy Day where each guest sends your child a piece of a puzzle with a personal note.
When all of the pieces arrive, the pieces make a piece of art that says, “I’m So Glad You Were Born.”
Invite guests to change their virtual background on Zoom by following these 8 simple steps.
For an extra special touch, encourage guests to create their own!
The joy, engagement and fun experienced during my virtual magic show by hundreds of families around the world can be repeated for your child’s party.
