Let’s face it: planning a birthday party isn’t always easy. In fact, at times, it can feel time-consuming, expensive and even stressful!
But – wait! – there’s good news: there are short-cuts, a.k.a. “birthday party hacks,” that can make your life a lot easier.
How do I know? Because as a full-time children’s magician, I’ve performed for over 3,000 parties over the past 10 years, and I’ve seen the Good, the Bad and the Ugly…
…and in this post I’m going to share 10 of my favorite birthday party hacks that will save you time, money and stress!
So, without further ado, I present to you…
Instead of struggling to scoop rock-solid ice-cream on the day of the party, do this: lay cupcake wrappers on a baking sheet the night before the party. Scoop ice-cream into each wrapper. Then put the tray in the freezer overnight. When it’s time to serve cake and ice-cream, just plop the ice-cream out of the cupcake wrapper next to the cake. Bon appetit!
2. Schedule the party time on the quarter hour mark
This is a neat little trick that will help more of your guests arrive on time. Instead of scheduling the birthday party for 2:00 pm, call it for 2:15 pm. Trust me, it works!
3. Find out exactly how many pizzas you’ll need with this pizza calculator
Use this calculator to remove the guess-work and order the exact number of pizzas for your child’s birthday bash.
4. Hang balloons outside to help guests find the party
5. Check to see if your child’s best friend is available before locking in a party date
Coordinating all of the party logistics can be a feat of abracadabra in itself. Use this birthday party hack to to avoid disappointment and save yourself from having to start all over.
6. Schedule entertainment 30-45 minutes into the party
A professional children’s entertainer is an experience you and your guests won’t want to miss. That’s why I recommend arranging entertainment 30-45 minutes after the party start-time.
7. Do this for easy, personalized and memorable thank you notes
Take a picture of your child with his or her friend holding the gift. Not only does this save you from having to keep track of who gave what, but parents will actually save these notes.
8. Make a quick and easy two-ingredient birthday cake
You can substitute a bottle of soda for eggs and butter when baking a cake. Click here to learn how.
9. Avoid the hassle of untangling balloons with this quick birthday party hack
Ask the store to use a separate string to tie off the strings holding the balloons as close to the balloons as possible.
