6 Tips for Throwing a Fun Birthday Party for Kids

Planning a birthday party for your son or daughter?

Follow these tips and your child’s party is guaranteed to be the most fun and exciting one yet!

1. Keep it simple

It is super easy to get carried away with decorations, platters of food, and parties that go on for hours on end. But simple is often the best way to go.

The most successful kids parties tend to be active, short, structured and manageable. “Leave them wanting more,” as they say in show business.

2. Make sure it’s age-appropriate

To ensure the kids are engaged and have fun, factor your child’s age into the games/activities, duration of the party, and menu you choose.

3. Facilitate an “arrival activity”

That way the kids can start having fun as soon as they arrive. Simple art projects can be great for this. A good rule of thumb is to have 1 activity planned for every 10-15 minutes you need to keep them occupied.

4. Book a professional children’s party entertainer

A professional children’s party entertainer will understand the importance of your child’s birthday party. They specialize in creating experiences that are inclusive, engaging and memorable, which means you’ll have a chance to relax and enjoy the party, too.

5. Play outside

NYC is the best city on earth for a lot of reasons. One of those reasons is there are so many beautiful parks. And having a kid’s party in a park can be a lot of fun.

Chances are good that there’s a picturesque park near you: there’s Central Park, Prospect Park, Carl Schurz Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pelham Bay Bark, you name it!  Click here to find parks in your neighborhood.

6. Have fun

That’s right. YOU should have fun. Kids and parents will be looking to you for the mood of the party, and if you’re having fun, they will too.

So enjoy your child’s special day. Have a piece of cake (or two, or three). You deserve it.
