Planning a NYC birthday party?
I’ve performed for a lot of preschools across NYC, and the pirate party theme is back in full swing!
Keep reading for some pirate party ideas that your child, and all of his or her mates, will enjoy :-)
Pirate Party Invitations
Insert a treasure map invitation with directions to your NYC house or apartment inside a plastic bottle. Put a big “X” on the treasure map to mark the spot of the party.
On the day of the party, put a sign outside that says, “Welcome to Treasure Island,” and have a big “X” on your door to let your little buccaneers know they’ve found the secret spot.
Pirate Party Games
Games can include a treasure or scavenger hunt, a parrot pinata, eye patches, temporary tattoos, or a gold coin toss where kids try to toss as many coins as possible into a treasure chest.
In the summer months, you could have the party at a NYC park and do a “cannonball” toss with water balloons. Just be sure to give parents a heads up and ask them to bring an extra change of clothes.
Pirate Party Food
For snacks, you can serve “fish and chips” (goldfish and chips mixed together). Serve this pirate themed snack in giant seashells or pirate hats.If you plan on serving pizza, then the toppings can be placed in the form of a “X.”
Or, have a barbecue and turn the hot dogs in buns into pirate ships by inserting wooden skewers into them with square pieces of paper attached to look like sails.
You can also make regular party food more fun by simply re-naming it. Olives can be named “cannon balls.” Wraps can be called “Sea Weed Wraps.” Fruit bowls can be named “Pirate Jewels.”
For drinks, you can serve root beer and bottled water in a big tub of ice. Put a sign on the tub that says, “Pirate Beer and Sea Water.”
